Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the Pampinus mobile application (the "App") collects, why it collects it, with whom it is shared, and what rights you have over it. The controller is Manuel Ortega ("we", "us"), developer of Pampinus, contactable at privacy@pampinus.wine.

In short: Pampinus works without an account and offline. If you choose to create an account to sync your data across devices, we store only what is needed for the App to work (your email, an identifier, your bottles, notes and photos). We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. You can delete your account and all your data from within the App.

1. What Data We Collect

This depends on how you use the App:

Your coordinates are never stored: they are sent to our server, used once to look up a place name and then discarded. Only the resulting text is saved, and only if you keep it. You can always type the place by hand instead, with no location permission at all

Pampinus can be used anonymously and offline. In that mode, your data lives only on your device and is not sent to any server.

2. How We Use Your Data

Operate the App and sync your information across your devices.
Process label and wine list scans, and AI sommelier queries.
Manage your Premium subscription and gift codes.
Suggest the name of the place where you are tasting, if you ask the App to use your location. We do not track you, we do not keep a location history and we never store your coordinates.
Detect errors and improve stability.
Respond to your support messages.
Identify scanned wines and build the community wine catalogue. When you scan a label, the photo may be sent to an external wine-recognition service to identify it; photos that become visible to other users are first reviewed and approved by the Pampinus team.

We do not use your data for advertising and do not sell it to third parties.

3. Legal Basis (GDPR)

Performance of a contract: to provide the App's services.
Consent: when you create an account or use features that send data to the cloud.
Legitimate interest: to maintain security and improve the App.
Legal obligation: when the law requires us to retain certain information.

4. Who We Share Data With

We work with providers who process data on our behalf, under contract and only as necessary:

Supabase (database, authentication and photo storage in the cloud).
RevenueCat (subscription management and purchase validation).
Apple and Google (payment processing for subscriptions through their stores).
Google (Gemini / Google Cloud) (processing of AI sommelier queries and wine list scans).
API4AI (wine label recognition; an alternative provider we are not currently using).
FastCork (wine label recognition and enrichment: when you scan a label that is not recognised on your device, the photo is sent to FastCork to identify the wine and provide details such as tasting notes and food pairing).
OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) (turning coordinates into a place name, only when you tap "Use my location"). The request is made by our server, not by your device, so your IP address is not exposed to them. We send only the coordinates for that single lookup, with no identifier of you or your account attached.
Sentry (error and performance reports, anonymised).
PostHog (anonymous product analytics; never receives your account identifier, email or name).

Some of these providers are in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area. In those cases, transfers are covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or other valid mechanisms. We do not share your data with anyone else except as required by law.

5. How Long We Keep It

We retain your data for as long as you have an active account. If you delete your account from the App (Settings, Account, Delete account), we delete your personal data within 30 days, except what the law requires us to keep. In anonymous mode, data lives only on your device and disappears if you uninstall the App.

6. Security

Data is transmitted encrypted (TLS) and stored encrypted at rest at our providers. Even so, no system is 100% infallible, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your data, as well as data portability. You can exercise these rights by deleting your account from the App or writing to us at privacy@pampinus.wine. If you live in the EU and believe we are processing your data improperly, you can lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country (in Spain, the AEPD).

8. Minors

Pampinus is about wine and alcoholic beverages. The App is for people aged 18 and over only. We do not knowingly collect data from minors under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with data, please write to us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when necessary. We will indicate the date of the latest update above. If the change is significant, we will notify you within the App.
